Ba Mee Thai Noodle House: Authentic Thai Noodles in Portland

2 hr wait again at Eem's? COME HERE!! The food quality here is unbelievable. Crispy pork belly, fresh roasted duck, chewy bouncy handmade noodles...this is my go-to restaurant to show out of town folks. Highly recommend the Kao Soi, Ba Mee house noodle soup (N9) and N13 which I think is a dry BBQ noodle dish. Bonus is there's a noodle bar window where you can watch someone making the noodles live!

I got the Koi Soy noodle with Tender Stewed Beef, w/the #1 spice level. Wife had the dumplings. Both were very tasty. Great service inside a clean modern space that has a view of them making the noodles by hand. *They have a clear spicy fish sauce on the side with red, orange, and green peppers that goes well with beef or chicken and rice. Update: I finally tried the Thai Coffee. It had a sweet and similar flavor to Thai Tea. The Crab fried rice is one of the best I've had. The R4 Chicken and rice with spicy fish sauce is my go to dish here.

if you can't go to Thailand and eat at a food stall eat at Ba Mee - the dishes are authentic, delicious, flavorful, umami, Thom Yum ba mee was just the right amount of spice, noodles are nice and all of the meatballs excellent - service was great except our servers were slow with the soda drink refills - restaurant is cute, nice modern, clean, fresh atmosphere, loved the decor touches. We would go back.

Saw this on IG and just had to give it a try. I mean, it's a cold Portland day which was screaming for some noodles and broth. We got parking right up front. Walked in and was quickly greeted and told to select a table. By the window of course. Everything on the menu sounded delish. How do we choose? We selected N19 with medium heat. It came out pretty fast. The crispy pork looked so good. It had a wonderful texture and didn't really have any fat on it. The bok choy was cooked perfectly and the noodles...so yum. They were not heavy at all. And the broth with medium heat was perfect. Bestie said it was the best broth she has ever had. It really was good. This was perfect for a chilly day. I am so excited to go back and try the rest of the dishes. I have a feeling that I'll enjoy them all.

Hip new Thai restaurant in this area that specialize in noodle dishes. We came on a busy Friday night so we waited a few minutes for a table. The place was quite lively with a large seating area split by a chic bar. I ordered the Ba Mee House Noodle Garlic Sauce with Roasted Duck. The noodles were cooked well but the sauce was more on the garlicky and salty side. My favorite part was the duck, it was so tender and surprisingly so much meat! It's been a while since I've had duck so I was impressed. Highly recommend the duck if you can choose your meat.

Wow, I'm surprised there aren't more reviews about this place. Handmade noodles! I came here primarily for the "show" of the fresh noodle-making process. However, the show is only visible to those seated near the bar; people with table service can't see it. The noodle-making takes place at one side of the restaurant (to the left as you walk in). Oh well, we took a table for two, so no view. Menus is simple and isn't super descriptive of what's on there beside the photo. You can guess the ingredients, but without information on things like veggies or toppings (what if I'm allergic to something?), it can be a bit of a surprise. Speaking of surprises, I was pleasantly impressed with this place. I ordered the Ba Mee House Noodle Soup with a crispy pork and BBQ pork combo. The noodles were good (though since it didn't say "hand-pulled," I wasn't sure if they were), and the meat was flavorful.I think I enjoyed the pork a lot because it was very flavorful. The bowl was $16, with decent portion sizes--not bad. Street parking only. Take cash or cards. Cute place. I will come back here again.

Overall - Fantastic experience at a very reasonable price in a wonderful area! Location - Located on Williams with only street parking, there are plenty of shops and even Ding Tea nearby. Menu - Let's admit it, we all eat with our eyes and that's why I love that they have photos of the dishes on the menu! Food - The hand-pulled noodles are what made me come here and it did not disappoint! As soon as you walk in, you can see someone making it so it tastes fresh and not like from a top ramen package. The crispy pork was crispy on the top but yet soft and juicy too. Service - The staff was friendly and came by a few times to check on us.

One of my favorite new Thai/Asian spots in the area. I haven't been able to try the house made noodles since they don't have a GF option for my wife, but the regular dishes we've really liked. The Pad Thai and stir fry's are especially good. The spring rolls are very fresh and generously sized. Only disappointment was the Duck as a protein, which was too dry. I absolutely love that they use paper containers for their take out orders, and will only order takeout from them now. The plastic clamshells that every other Thai place uses are usually not recyclable, and so wasteful. Good for Ba Mhee!

Wow! Ba Mee has been on my list for quite a while and I'm honestly so upset it's taken me so long to try it!! EVERYTHING WE ORDERED WAS DELICIOUS!! And I am not exaggerating! The flavor was on point! And the cost per dish is not expensive at all. I ordered the Garlic Noodles with duck. I've never had duck and kept seeing their duck on the window (IYKYK) so I decided to give it a try. I chose level 3 for spice and gosh, I wish I would've done a 2!!! I love spicy but this was another level! Nonetheless, the food was still delicious. My partner ordered the Pork Belly and BBQ Pork over rice and I think I enjoyed his meal more than mine. Both were really good, but the flavors of this one were a bit more enjoyable. The crispy shrimp were to die for!! I wish I would've ordered more, because 4 was not enough (lol). The Thai tea- don't even get me started! I've had quite a few Thai teas in my life, so I've had bad ones. This one has got to be my all time favorite Thai tea!!!! It was well balanced and not too sweet. I would recommend this place!! I can't wait to go back and try a few other dishes!!

Wow! This place is refreshing. Decor is intentional and modern, and I'm sure, goes from day to night seamlessly. Service was great when we went, knowledgeable and kind. Three of us dining, we got the wonton (steamed) and shrimp crispy rolls for appetizers. Wontons are so luxurious, chewy skinned and packed with the best ratio of meat to fat. Shrimp rolls, a great concept, but, I felt lacked flavor (salt or other), and the dipping sauce didn't add anything. Pad Thai (level 2), plump shrimp, very high quality on the seafood here (app was the same), and a thinner noodle and lovely peanut flavor. Tom Yum clear broth (level 5), house-made noodles, very spicy, fish cake was incredible, and I give this a solid 9, the noodles and toppings were a 10, the broth was either lacking in depth or seemed watery. But, worth the try. I believe our last dish was the Ba Mee House Noodles, (level 3) maybe messed that up. The pork cracklings and the marinade on that roast duck, heaven. Can't say enough good things about this spot, check out the little window with the roasted meats, for a more intimate experience, sit at the noodle counter and watch the chef at work. Not so pro tip: I believe my friend's glass of wine was only $8, for I recall, MaryHill or equal...umm...yes.
